Hurricane Ivan, downgraded to a tropical depression, hit Stony Valley with a deluge of rain in the overnight hours of the 17th & 18th of September 2004. These photos show some of the damage done by Ivan.
Ivan must have sent an impressive amount of water flowing through the valley. You could distinctly see where the high waters had run by the matted down ferns and grasses, exposed roots, scoured rocks, areas swept clear, and natural debris pushed up against tree trunks - some hanging a good three feet off the ground.
